Why you should sing to your toddler everyday?

I do not have a beautiful voice like Celine Dion or Taylor Swift.
I never had professional training.
People used to laugh at my horrible, out-of-tune singing.
BUT, all these did not stop me from singing to my toddlers and believe it or not, THEY ENJOY LISTENING TO ME SING!
I myself enjoy singing to my toddlers EVERYDAY because…
· Introduce new words
· Teach them practical concepts – loud, soft, quiet, fast, slow
· A cue for transitions – wake up, go to bed, mealtime, wash hands, outdoor play
· Allow for emotions expression – happy, sad, angry
· Soothing effect
· Improve body parts coordination – move with the music
· most importantly, it enhances the LOVE bond between you and your toddler
After many trial and errors, I realise talking to them does not attract their attention as much as singing to them. (or am I obsessed with singing? surely not!)
My top songs list:
Baby Shark – Yes! It is still their all-time favourite and I sing it everyday.
Wheels on the Bus
If You’re Happy and You Know It
Barney I Love You
Skidamarink
Happy Birthday – who says we cannot celebrate birthdays everyday?
Mr Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun
Rain Rain Go Away
Old McDonald
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Mary Had A Little Lamb
Itsy Bitsy Spider
Do You Know the Muffin Man?
Don’t worry too much about how you sound.
Trust me, when you see the smile on your toddler’s face, no matter how good or bad your singing is, it is all worth it!
